We may have some jams during the winter, weather permitting so watch our website for last minute scheduling of jams.
Hello,
We are Don and Sue Treadway. Our farm is in southeast Indiana just about a mile from the Indiana/Ohio state line 30 miles north of Cincinnati, Ohio. The nearest town is Bath, Indiana.which has a population of around 30.
We both have enjoyed listening to bluegrass music for many years. This year we decided to clean out our barn and spruce it up a little to have a place for bluegrass musicians to perform in front of an audience. We have talked about doing it for years and finally did it.
Our barn has been open Sunday 2-5 pm since May 18. We do close on some holiday weekend such as Fathers Day, Labor Day, etc. I will post closings on this site so you can check before coming. NOVEMBER 9th will be our last show for the season. We plan reopen the 1st Sunday of next May.
We have had excellent talent both local and "road bands". There is room to jam outside or inside. The first couple of weeks the audience had to bring lawn chairs but now we have our own chairs thanks to Miami University Surplus Auction.
Our house band, Flatland Bluegrass Band, consists of Donna Hilderbrand (vocal), Colley Calihan (guitar & vocal), Alan McQueen (vocal & mandolin) , Wreford Meyer (vocal & bass) and Nathan Treadway (banjo). Gene Wagers (dobro) and Woody Smith (fiddle) help out almost every week.
We are going to try not to charge admission. We do have a "donation bucket" that we use for band expenses. Our friends, Tom and Mary Lou Ferris have been very supportive ever since we first started planning for this. They help us in so many ways and we really appreciate them. Mary Lou runs our snack bar where she serves up sandwiches, chips, drinks and usually homemade pies, cookies and cake.
We hope you will come out to visit us to jam, just listen to the music or both. If you have a bluegrass band and would like to perform on stage, let us know.
We would like some leaders to get jam sessions going outside the barn on Sundays. We have pop up tent, shade trees and chairs--all you have to add are pickers.
